Part #1-The Three Models of Understanding How Results are Achieved

Recently, as I've been known to do, I was contemplating "How Results are Achieved". In other words, what goes on inside each of us that causes the juices to flow or action to be taken?

In the fields of Self Help, Personal Development, Self Improvement and the Mind Sciences many are aware that there are three parts to any communication, the content, context, and process.

The majority of people are only aware of content and a smaller number give much attention to context and an extremely small minority are even aware of process.

THE MASTER KEY

Fortunately, for those of us who are aware of process it seems like a magical key. Where in actuality it is a Master Key to getting the results you want.

As you look at the following chart you may get extremely excited or I could be wrong you may just allow the excitement to build as the understanding of the value of process starts to sink in.

Content = Why and What (Judgments-Labels)
Context = Where and When (Location)
Process = HOW (Structure-Strategies)

To get the results we want the most important thing is to know "HOW" to get them. All the rest we can change or make up after we achieve our results.

We normally do this regardless of whether we get our desired results or not. We want to explain "why' it worked or didn't work. (We make up a story.)

Even in the Mind Sciences field people get their stories/metaphors/maps mixed up. When trying to explain how results are achieved we have the tendency to mix metaphors.

Or like My Grampa Vetter said, "You're trying to drive to Dallas but you are using a Geological map for directions. They are both maps of the territory but you are using the drilling map to drive with."
